The International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB) has officially launched its 2025 World Sight Day campaign, calling on the global eye health sector and the public to support the #LoveYourEyes initiative. Scheduled for Oct. 9, this year’s campaign began in July with a focus on placing people and their stories at the center of eye health advocacy.
Now in its fifth year, the #LoveYourEyes campaign continues to emphasize the importance of prioritizing personal eye health while advocating for accessible, affordable, and available eyecare services worldwide. The 2025 campaign highlights several key initiatives:
- Every Story Counts: An invitation for individuals to share personal experiences with eye health, underscoring the human stories behind global health data.
- The Global Challenge: A program aimed at providing eye screenings to political leaders and policymakers, reinforcing the connection between eye health and broader social and economic development.
- World Sight Day Sight Tests: A continued call for people around the world to schedule and receive eye examinations in recognition of the day.
- World Sight Day Photo Competition: Marking its 10th year, the competition celebrates visual storytelling and raises awareness of the importance of eye care.
“World Sight Day is more than one day; it is a movement that grows each year. The earlier you get involved, the greater the impact is,” says Simon Darvill, IAPB director of communications, campaigns, and events. “We have comprehensive tools to help guide everyone’s plans and lots of campaign resources to help amplify your efforts. I invite everyone to be part of the sector’s biggest day for collective action and public engagement.”
Campaign materials, toolkits, and planning resources are available through IAPB for organizations and individuals interested in participating.
