The European commercial manager for Coburn Technologies, David Short, will retire in April after 15 years with the company and nearly five decades in the optical industry. Short began his career in 1976 at Autoflow Ltd. and later held roles at AO Safety, Norville Autoflow, Optronics UK, and Cerium before joining Coburn in 2010 to expand its presence in the European market.

John Hawley is retiring after a career spanning more than four decades. According to a press release, Hawley began his work in 1983 and played a key role in the introduction of the Heidelberg HRT and later contributed to the widespread adoption of OCT technology during his tenure at Optovue. After briefly retiring in 2018, he returned to the field at iCare, where he mentored professionals and continued to advance eye care. In 2019, the American Glaucoma Society recognized his contributions with a Lifetime Achievement Award.
