EssilorLuxottica has appointed two executives to key leadership roles in its North America Professional Solutions division. Ernesto Diaz has been named senior vice president and chief marketing officer, bringing nearly 20 years of company experience, including leadership roles in Latin America and Europe. Laurie McDonald, formerly the general manager of Oakley Retail, has been appointed senior vice president and chief commercial officer for sport, premium sun, and e-commerce channels.

Martin Fischer has been appointed as president and CEO of Zeiss Greater China, effective Oct. 1. Fischer has been with Zeiss since 2006, holding leadership roles across multiple business segments. Most recently, he served as global head of sales, service, and marketing for research microscopy solutions. Fischer succeeds Maximilian Foerst, who joined the company’s executive board as president and CEO of Carl Zeiss Meditec AG in June 2025.

VSP Vision has named Brooke Pratt, a class of 2026 student at Midwestern University’s Arizona College of Optometry, the winner of its 2025 Premier Edge Student Business Challenge. Pratt received a $10,000 scholarship and a travel grant to attend the Student Optometric Leadership Network conference in Houston for her standout business plan focused on private practice ownership. Runners-up Harleen Dhaliwal (Midwestern University, Chicago College of Optometry, class of 2027) and Daniel Spears (Southern College of Optometry, class of 2027) were each awarded $5,000 scholarships and travel grants.
