National Vision Inc. has announced the recipients of its 2025 scholarship program in partnership with the National Optometric Student Association (NOSA). This marks the 11th consecutive year of National Vision’s financial and professional support for future optometrists who are focused on expanding access to eye care.

The 2025 application prompt asked students to reflect on the impact of eye health on educational and economic outcomes, particularly within underserved communities. Applicants submitted essays and videos that explored barriers to vision care and proposed strategies to increase equity in access.

“This scholarship is about more than financial support—it’s about investing in future doctors who are already stepping up to make a difference,” says Alexander Smith, OD, head of doctor network at National Vision.

The recipients were recognized during the National Optometric Association (NOA) Convention from July 17-20 in Columbus, OH:

• First Place ($4,000): Dominica Dzakah, Pennsylvania College of Optometry, class of 2025
• Second Place ($2,000): Antoinette Kanayo, University of Houston College of Optometry, class of 2027
• Third Place ($1,000): Monica Thu Do, UC Berkeley Herbert Wertheim School of Optometry & Vision Science, class of 2027 

Their submissions addressed real-world challenges and offered practical approaches for bridging care gaps in vision services. “These students exemplify what it means to lead with both clinical skill and compassion," says Dr. Smith.
