
The 2025 Silmo d’Or awards—presented at international optical trade show Silmo Paris, which took place Sept. 26-29 at the Paris Nord Villepinte—highlighted innovation, design, and technical advancement across multiple categories. Winners were chosen by an expert jury from among nominated entries spanning optical frames, smart eyewear, materials and equipment, and more.
Here are the winners, by category, of the 32nd edition Silmo d’Or awards:

CHILDREN—Manti Manti’s 3D Collection: Crafted from a sustainable PA11 material derived from castor beans, the collection uses 3D printing.

SPORT—Evil Eye Eyewear’s Speedsense: The Speedsense is a rimless frame designed to provide an unobstructed field of vision and protection, featuring a lens-locking lever mechanism for quick lens changes and a tension bar to adjust fit and comfort.

VISION—Rodenstock’s B.I.G Exact Sensitive: The B.I.G Exact Sensitive lens is designed to integrate a person’s individual biometrics and visual sensitivity, creating a more customized optical solution.

TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATION IN EYEWEAR—QED Eyewear’s Phi: Phi is built around a patented fastening system. It is designed to be easily assembled and disassembled, promoting reuse and minimal maintenance.

SMART EYEWEAR—EssilorLuxottica’s Nuance Audio: Described as an “invisible hearing solution,” Nuance Audio is built into glasses, designed to enhance hearing for individuals with mild to moderate hearing loss, especially in noisy environments.

OPTICAL FRAMES (LABELS)—Tag Heuer’s Line: The Line frame incorporates a Dyneema double bridge, bio-nylon carbon frame, titanium elements, and cork sleeves.

SUNGLASSES (LABELS)—Como’s YYSUN502 by Yohji Yamamoto: The YYSUN502 model features a sculptural structure with a micro-perforated metal bridge and gradient lenses.

OPTICAL FRAMES (EYEWEAR DESIGNER)—Dzmitry Samal’s Luc: Luc is a modern reinterpretation of logo frames, using dynamic polygon geometry, matte indentations, and colored resin accents.

SUNGLASSES (EYEWEAR DESIGNER)—Design Eyewear Group’s Flare by Face à Face: Flare uses asymmetry and bold design lines to create a striking aesthetic.

OPTICAL FRAMES (EYEWEAR MAKER)—Vanni’s Extra: The Extra collection highlights distinctive contours, thick acetate, continuous nose pads, and a faceted profile.

SUNGLASSES (EYEWEAR MAKER)—Piero Massaro’s Tramonti di pietra: Part of the Saline collection, this limited-edition design evokes landscapes and light phenomena by incorporating vivid color transitions and gradient lenses.

MATERIAL + EQUIPMENT—ACEP’s Smart Mirror AI: The Smart Mirror AI automates optical alignment measurement. It uses artificial intelligence to select optimal images and measurement points in under 10 seconds, replacing manual systems, according to the company.

JURY’S SPECIAL PRIZE—Sapiens’ ER-1813 M: The ER-1813 M draws inspiration from human evolution, with a skull-inspired design that permits prescription lens insertion.

ADDITIONAL RECOGNITION—Friendly Frenchy: The sustainable development initiative Friendly Frenchy was also acknowledged for its commitment to designing, producing, and marketing products made from natural, recycled, or innovative materials, while prioritizing inclusive and local partnerships.
