Zyloware has acquired Kentucky-based Kenmark Eyewear with the support of investment partner CenterGate Capital. The deal marks Zyloware’s first expansion through acquisition as it seeks to broaden its portfolio and strengthen its position in the eyewear industry.
Founded more than 50 years ago, Kenmark designs and distributes eyewear collections that include brands such as Vera Wang, Lilly Pulitzer, Original Penguin, Kensie, Jhane Barnes, and Wolverine, along with independent labels Paradigm, Elliott Ives, and Valdo. Previously an employee-owned business, Kenmark has been recognized for its craftsmanship and industry partnerships.
In a move described as “a vote of confidence in the combined management teams,” Zyloware co-CEO and president Christopher Shyer will step down from his day-to-day role in November after decades of leadership. He will remain a co-owner of the company.
The combined businesses will continue operating under their established brand identities, with plans to expand market reach and enhance product offerings.
“For more than a century, Zyloware has grown through careful, thoughtful decisions that honor our family values and tradition,” says Jamie Shyer, co-CEO and chief operating officer of Zyloware. “This acquisition is both a natural fit and an exciting step forward.”
“By joining the Zyloware family, we strengthen our capacity to innovate, expand our reach, and provide collections that empower practices and elevate the eyewear experience for patients everywhere,” says Jason Wehlage, CEO of Kenmark Eyewear.
